And things have changed. A lot.

I am now a single mother. That takes some time to wrap one’s mind around. There are always things you see when you are removed from a situation. Things that you look back on and wonder, “How did I not see that before,” but you can’t dwell there. You have kids, you push on.

Single motherdom (Look at that! First post back and I made a new word) is not what I always had assumed it was. Some aspects of life are truly so much easier. There are some things that I used to dread that are now much less daunting. Some tasks seem impossible now that it is only my hands and arms responsible for doing them. Laundry, for one… baskets can count as “put away” right? There are, of course, many things that are just simply different.

Tonight’s post is more or less a warning and a way for me to dip a toe in, if you will. I will begin to write when I need to vent or when I need to brag. And, I will do both and I will do so unapologetically. Now, I am a queen and I am the ruler. I will do whatever it takes for my littles to succeed and feel loved. It may mean I yell, it may mean that they stay up late to cuddle, it could mean that I take an extra long shower just to have a minute to myself, but I will survive and thrive.
